Our Curriculum

At Willow Grove Cottage School, we follow a curriculum that honors the Charlotte Mason tradition, primarily using The Alveary as our framework. This curriculum is comprehensive, living, and relational — designed to put children in touch with the best ideas, great literature, and the natural world. Every lesson seeks to draw students into a wide room of learning, where they encounter what is true, cherish what is beautiful, and are formed toward what is good.

The Alveary

Awaken children to delightful living with books, nature, and ideas. Alveary is an award-winning Charlotte Mason curriculum that offers a complete and comprehensive curriculum relevant for 21st-century students.

For the 2026-2027 school year, we will cover the time period of 1800-1900AD. As History is the pivot for a Charlotte Mason education, many of the
other subjects will be situated within this particular
time period, as well.

Home Support

When you join Willow Grove, you also become an Alveary Member. With this membership, you will have full access to their comprehensive suite of resources, including detailed lesson plans, instructional videos, online communities, and teacher training materials for grades PreK–12. This membership allows families to include children not enrolled at Willow Grove in the same curriculum, learning from home at their own level.

Throughout the summer and into the school year, we offer a variety of training opportunities designed to help parents deepen their understanding of the Charlotte Mason philosophy, explore The Alveary curriculum, and learn practical ways to cultivate truth, beauty, and goodness in their children’s education.
